SERVICES
we do bg

We do state inspections, oil changes, and all manner of car repairs professionally and with a smile

At Midway, we pride ourselves on delivering quick and professional service that you can rely on. So you get the best care for your vehicle without any hidden surprises.

Oil Changes

bg

Engine oil keeps your engine’s parts lubricated and running smoothly. Over time, oil breaks down and can’t do its job as well, so it needs to be replaced. Most cars need an oil change every 3,000-5,000 miles, depending on the type of oil and your driving habits.

State Inspections

icon

Virginia require an annual inspection to make sure your car meets safety and emissions standards. This includes checking brakes, lights, tires, steering/suspension, and emissions to ensure your vehicle is safe and legal to drive.

We’re famous for fast and friendly state car inspections. And if we spot a problem that would make you fail inspection we’ll call and get your ok to fix it before charging you so that your vehicle passes inspection the first time.

AC & Heat Repair

icon

No surprise here - Norfolk, Virginia gets hot and humid! And you want your car to feel like a chilly embrace.

If your auto AC or Heat stops working, it might be because of a refrigerant leak, a broken compressor, or clogged filters. In colder weather, heating issues can come from a faulty thermostat or a problem with the heater core.

We’ll repair your AC or Heat and quickly so you can be back to driving in comfort.

Brake Repairs

icon

Between tap-and-go tunnel traffic and sports cars speeding at inopportune times, you need your breaks to stop on a dime.

If you hear squealing, feel vibrations when braking, or the pedal feels spongy, it’s a sign you need a brake check.

Engine Cooling System

icon

Your car’s cooling system keeps the engine from overheating, even on the most sweltering Virginia days.

Overheating can cause serious damage to your engine, and the culprit might be a bad radiator, water pump, thermostat, or hoses.

So if your car is running hot or leaking coolant, it’s time to bring it in.

Diagnostics

icon

Aah yes, the dreaded check engine light.

We’ll run a diagnostic to pinpoint what underlying issue is triggering the light.

Then we’ll call you with the results - before doing any work - so you know exactly what to expect and how long it’s going to take.

Diagnostics cost a fee.

Transmissions

icon

When you need to get-up-and-go, you want your car to have the oomph to do it.

Transmission issues can be caused by low transmission fluid or wear and tear on internal parts. Caught early, they can be repaired without causing additional damage, but the longer they drag on, the more damage they can cause.

So if your car is slipping gears, you have difficulty shifting, or you’re hear strange noises when you accelerate or slow down, it’s probably time to see what’s going on.

Engine Repairs

icon

The engine is the heart of your car. Engine repairs can range from replacing spark plugs or fixing oil leaks to more serious problems like a blown head gasket.

If your car is making strange noises, running rough, or using more fuel than usual, there could be an issue with the engine.

Electrical & Starting

icon

Your car’s electrical system powers everything from the lights to the radio and windows and getting your car to start and run.

Electrical issues can be caused by a dead battery, faulty alternator, blown fuses, or corroded wires.

If your car won’t start, the battery might be dead, or there could be a problem with the starter motor.

Either way, we can get you going again.

The man behind Midway

Hi! I’m Eddie.

Midway Auto began over 60 years ago as a humble radiator shop, founded by my uncle with the goal of helping the community keep their cars running smoothly. My dad joined him soon after, and together they turned Midway into a trusted neighborhood garage.

Growing up around cars with my family taught me the value of integrity in auto repair, so when I returned from business school in 2008, it was a joy to put my skills to work in the family business, eager to carry on the  legacy of building a place where people feel safe, respected, and well taken care of.

Car troubles can be intimidating, so our approach is simple: we want each customer to feel they’re in good hands from the moment they walk in until they drive away.

If our hundreds of 5-star reviews are any indicator, we’re living proof that approach is more than words.

My team and I are passionate about our work, and we keep up with evolving auto technology to ensure we’re giving the best service possible. And we’re committed to solving problems and keeping folks on the road with honest assessments and transparent pricing.

At Midway, it’s about more than just fixing cars—it’s about building relationships based on trust and genuine care. That’s the Midway Way, and I’m proud to keep that tradition alive.

Our Car Crew at Midway loves problem solving cars
- and building their own auto projects.

Morgan, Lead Technician

For me, working on cars is always something new—sometimes it’s fast-paced, and other times it takes a lot of time and focus. I grew up at the racetrack, and now I build and race my own car—a Pontiac GTO. I’ve done everything to it: bigger engine, stronger transmission, lighter body, the works.

At Midway, I love that it’s clean, busy, and full of good people who show up and work hard. We’re like puzzle pieces that fit together to get the job done.

Edvan, Lead Technician

I like working on cars because I enjoy figuring out what’s really going on and making sure the customer gets a solid, reliable fix.

At Midway, we’re all about being professional and treating every customer with honesty and respect—that’s what I love most about working here.

I’m not into project cars, but I’ve been doing karate for 25 years, and I’m a 4th-degree black belt. But if I could pick one dream car to own, it’d be a Rolls-Royce. I just like to keep things simple and classic.

Kenny, Technician

I’ve loved cars ever since I was a kid—my dad got me into them when I was about 12, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

I love working at Midway because the people here are awesome, the customers are great, and it just feels like family.

Right now, my favorite car is my project—a 1994 Mercedes C280. It’s blue for now, but I’m still deciding on the final color. European cars are a new thing for me, but I’m loving every minute of it.

Gavin, Technician

I’ve been around cars my whole life, so fixing them just comes naturally. My dad was a mechanic in the army, and we used to work on an old Mazda B2000 truck together—it’s still my project car.

I love being at Midway because it feels like family here, and the customers are great.

My favorite car is my ’97 Civic. I’ve done everything on it, from rebuilding the engine to custom paint. It’s loud, it’s low, and it definitely turns heads.

Are you a good shop for Uber or Lyft drivers?

Yes, we can help keep your car running smoothly and getting you in and out of the shop quickly so you can get back to work. Christi says it best:

If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. As a full-time, senior, female Uber driver, my time and my van are crucial to me every day. My 2010 Kia Sedona is in excellent running order, reliable, quick and responsive to their customers’ needs. Having been in their care since a bought the van in 2019, I've learned that we are a trustworthy team which works together well, considerate, patient and respectful of each other. I am tempted to keep them a secret, but that's not fair to them!
